OHSU Researchers Saved My Life

As some of you know, last year I was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma. I was very scared and was not sure what would happen. However, I went to OHSU and they were able to type my cancer and treat me. It felt like a miracle.

Like so many in our community, I was lucky to get treatment at OHSU and today, over a year later, I am 100% cancer free. That is due to the great work of our members at OHSU. They gave me a miracle. From studying aging and Alzheimer’s, to behavioral neuroscience, embryonic cell and gene therapy, psychology, leukemia, molecular microbiology, and sleep disorders, the postdoctoral researchers at OHSU study every inch of the human body.

I am able to write to you today because of the research postdoctoral workers at OHSU do every day. Postdocs at OHSU are the highest trained experts in their field, spending years preparing to conduct top of the line research that literally saves lives.

Now these researchers have formed a union and are bargaining for their first contract. You may have seen recent headlines of terrible behavior by OHSU management. So far, the hospital is refusing to offer any pay increases and is stonewalling a variety of other important workplace improvements.

These folks need our help. They do so much for all of Oregon and the world and right now they need support. It’s time to remind OHSU how important these researchers are and show that the people they have helped are standing with them.

If you have received treatment at OHSU that made a difference in your life, please let the researchers and OHSU executives know! Click here to submit your story to our team.

I know this is a personal ask, but the health of our communities is personal to each and every one of us.

We need to show that this is not just about these workers demanding a fair contract but a fight for the health and safety of patients and their families.  These are the folks behind the scenes who make miracles.

In Solidarity,
